Great BBQ Needs Great Charcoal

The high performing charcoal with eco-friendly credentials. Coconut charcoal is upcycled from used coconut shells, a by-product of the coconut industry. As well as impressive green credentials, our sustainably sourced cocoshell charcoal is very high performance – it burns hotter and lasts longer than ordinary timber-based lumpwood charcoal and briquettes.

What is Coconut Shell Charcoal?

Coconut shell charcoal briquettes are made from used coconut shells, a by-product of the coconut industry. As no trees are felled or deforested in making coconut charcoal, it is widely acknowledged as being more sustainable and better for the environment than normal timber-based charcoal.

Coconut charcoal also performs very well.  It lasts much longer and burns far hotter than normal charcoal.

Why Choose ProQ Coconut Shell
Charcoal Briquettes?

At ProQ we only use the highest food grade cocoshell charcoal sustainably sourced from Indonesia.  Beware of cheaper, low quality imitations!  They are 100% natural with no nasty fillers or additives.

Our eco friendly briquettes are square, not round, so they are very efficient to transport in  boxes rather than bags. In fact, they take up less than 65% less space than ordinary wood based lumpwood charcoal or ‘pillow’ shaped briquettes. If that wasn’t enough, our briquettes emit very little smoke, so next time you light a BBQ you won’t annoy the neighbours!

What makes ProQ Coconut Shell Charcoal Briquettes better?

Our high performance restaurant grade charcoal briquettes are low odour and emit very little smoke.  They produce a tiny 3-5% ash because they contain no fillers or additives and are 100% natural. This low ash content means they are compatible for all charcoal BBQ’s including Weber, Landmann and Napoleon and ceramic kamado grills such as Big Green Egg, Kamado Joe, Primo & Monolith.

Cheaper, lower grade alternatives are available on the market, but they do not perform as well - emitting more smoke with shorter burn times and high ash levels.
